Counseling In Schools (CIS) is seeking a Full-Time Success Mentor to work at a high school in Brooklyn, NY. Success Mentors are typically matched with 15-20 target students to connect with multiple times a week. Mentor responsibilities are determined by what research shows are the most effective practices for engaging at-risk students and their families. These include personally greeting students upon arrival in the morning to make them feel welcomed and noticed, engaging caregivers, calling home when the mentee is absent, and supporting culture and climate activities and events that encourage school attendance. Additionally, Mentors connect students and families with a wide range of services to help them overcome barriers to school success and graduation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Must have high energy; ability to connect with adolescents and maintain professional boundaries
- Must have ability to multitask and prioritize work responsibilities
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with adolescents and/ or in school settings preferred

Required:
- This position is perfect for college students
- This is an on-site position reporting Monday through Friday 8am-4pm
- Must have a High School diploma or GED; College degree preferred
- Candidates must undergo NYC DOE fingerprinting and obtain clearance

Reports To: Community School Director or Program Manager
This position is a full-time, 12-month position which reports to a school site and follows the annual NYC public school schedule.
Compensation: Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000; commensurate with experience
